Results of Qualifying Round 1 of World Snooker Championship 2011
The Qualifying Round 1 of the World Snooker Championship 2011, held at the World Snooker Academy, has concluded.

Sixteen best-of-nineteen matches were played overall in Round 1. It was a well fought round as most of the players put on fully stretched battles. Following are the most amazing match-ups:
The most dominating players of the day were Patrick Wallace and Michael White who won with a 10-2 frame score against Del Smith and Adam Wicheard respectively.
Patrick Wallace produced three century breaks – 100, 115, and 119 – against Smith whereas Michael White was not able to produce any big breaks.
David Grey, who got a walkover in the previous round like Del Smith, was whitewashed by Chinese star Liu Chang with a frame score of 10-3.
Stephen Rowlings, who had a comfortable win against Jak Jones previously, also lost to Paul S Davison with a 19-5 frame score.
Another interesting match was Kurt Maflin vs. Xiao Guodong. Maflin, who played excellently and had dominated in the China Open 2011 qualifiers, has been thrown out by Guodong. It was a spectacular game four centuries apart from other classy breaks.
Maflin, who was a strong contender, had a cut-throat competition against the Chinese, but in the end, lost with a frame score of 10-9.    
James Wattana, who beat Justin Astley comfortably with a 10-3 frame score, made the highest break of 141.
Sam Baird, the man who knocked out Reanne Evans, has reached Round 2 after beating Thanawat Thirapongpa with a 10-8 frame score. Baird also compiled the third-highest break of 133.
