Results of Snooker Championship League 2011:
Day one – Group Seven
The first day of Group Seven matches at Snooker Championship League 2011 resulted in some deciders, a couple of whitewashes and some decent plays at Crondon Park Golf Club in Essex, England.
A total of 12 matches were played at the arena on Monday in three sessions – morning, afternoon and evening.
The group seven of Snooker Championship League 2011 comprised of Stephen Lee, Marco Fu, Mark King, Liang Wenbo, Martin Gould, Andrew Higginson and Matthew Stevens.
The most outstanding and thrilling display was seen in the match between Stephen Lee and Marco Fu, which ended in a decider. The 2007 Grand Prix winner Fu grabbed a 0-1 quick lead with
an awesome break of 108, which definitely depressed Lee but the Euro PTC Event 4 winner held his nerves and came back stunningly as he took the second frame 119-0, smashing two impressive breaks of 59 and 60 to level the game 1-1.
Lee was leading 31-0 in the third frame when he gave in a decent break of 31 before Fu came strong and moved within one frame to lead 1-2 over Lee, as he pocketed a cracking break of 54
to take the frame 32-62. Lee capitalised in the very next frame firing a sensational break of 48 to clinch the fourth frame 56-24 and dragged the match into a decider frame after balancing it 2-2.
The 2006 Welsh Open winner, Lee then took control over the game and potted a beautiful 62 points break and won his first competition of the round-robin matches. Lee faced Fu previously
at the Star Xing Pai PTC Event 1 where he lost to Fu 2-4.
Martin Gould’s half century break of 52 in the second round of best-of-five frames group match brought him 1-1 level to Liang Wenbo before the Chinese built an excellent break of 131 and
took the third frame to move within one frame lead of 2-1 over the PartyCasino.com PTC 2010-11 Grand Final runner-up, Gould. The Englishman held his nerves and sparked his cue brilliantly in the fourth frame as he put in a century break of 103 to outplay the
Chinese and level the game 2-2.
The competition became tough as it went into a decider frame in which both cueists tussled hard to triumph over each other but Gould hit the mark after he cued a rattling knock of 37 and
clinched the frame 60-49 and the match 3-2, as well.
