Resume Picture?

Would it be bad if I just took a professional looking picture of myself and printed it out?

Everyone says it has to be professional but if it looks nice what's the difference?

  1. Don't give a picture with your resume'.

  2. trust me there's a difference.  if you want to establish yourself as a professional and have people take you seriously, you need real top quality headshots.  if you are just starting out, by all means take a picture of yourself for now, they will understand,  just know eventually you are going to have to shell out some money if you really want to continue to pursue this field.  wear nice clothes with a good fit and flattering colors, and natural makeup, find a place with good lighting, and try to get a friend or someone who has an artistic eye and is really good with a digital camera.  print it out size 8 by 10 in the best quality possible.  but think about trying to find an inexpensive headshot photographer or even sometimes there are photographers starting out trying to build there portfolios and will charge you little to nothing... for next time.

  3. It matters. If you were a surgeon, you wouldn't use homemade tools. The same principle applies- you need the correct tools in order to compete in the professional world of acting.

  4. yes you should get a professional headshot! people can tell the difference. just go to a photography studio and it will take like an hour.
