Resume Work experience

I'm in high school and I was wondering how long you have to do a job for it to count it as work experience. For example, I once worked selling drinks during a city festival, but only for a weekend. Would that count?

  1. By seeing some sample resumes or resumes of your friends you can design your own in a neat way.

  2. Here's an idea that older people who have too many jobs to list on their resumes use - - DON'T list the jobs in chronological order by duration of employment.  Instead make a list of skills you possess & have used in different jobs, then make a bullet list of what you did using these skills.  For example:

    SALES:

o  Staffed city festival drink stand

    MONEY MANAGEMENT:

o  Reported end of day earnings from drink stand at city festival

    PEOPLE SKILLS:

o  Exchanged pleasantries & small talk with customers at city festival drink stand

  3. It depends upon the breadth of your work history. Since you're in high school, if that's all you have then include it. You're young so it won't be held against you. Everyone got to start somewhere. But, for the more experienced job seeker, you shouldn't list a job that you held less than a year. That type of thing always leads to suspicions about termination for cause.
