I am posting my resume on careerbuilder and was wondering what a good title would be. Im 18 with not much experience except i worked at a bakery and also as a medical biller/receptionist. The thing is I dont want a job as a medical biller, I was looking more into a job at a hotel or in food service. Whats a good title? Any additional tips would be great, I really would appreciate it. Thank you so much, and as always 10 points for best answer!

  1. In writing a resume, you wanna be clear, concise and TO THE POINT. No more than 1 PAGE! Yeup, 1 page. The employer has 20 seconds to look over a resume before throwing it away. So, make it brief.

You're objective is all over the board here. You don't wanna put 3 different professions on the same resume.

You say you wish to work in the Hotel-Restaurant industry? Well, if you have no experience, you have to start somewhere, right? Of course. However, you have worked in a bakery which qualifies for experience in the food industry, so you've already got a head start. Use that as your template.

A good title or theme can be something like "Seek challenging roll as server." Use your own words of course.

Highlight your customer service skills and emphasize that you're exceptional with dealing with the public and understand peoples needs and wants.

Being that you don't have that much experience in the food industry, you can compensate for that by highlighting any volunteer work you've done in your community. This impresses the h**l out of employers as they view you as the kind of person who goes above and beyond, and truly is passionate about helping others.

Once you've created a 1 page resume, make a PDF file and start uploading it on all the job sites like Career Builders, Hot-Jobs, Monster, Recycler e.t.c

Send it to everyone and their mother and you'll get better results.

The statistic is (and it's just a stat) for every 300 resumes you summit, 30 will respond and 3 will hire you.

If you have any other questions about resumes and cover-letters, and even PDF files, e-mail me and I'll give you a more in-depth overview because I design resumes.

    Goodluck.

  2. So you've come from a service background where you deal with customers fairly often, and now you want to get into food service or hotel business... sounds to me like you need a title that stresses your ability to work with people and communicate effectively rather than focusing on the specific jobs you've had in the past.  Public Service Enthusiast seeks job?
