Hey guys I have to wear my retainer at night because I got my Braces off 2 years ago. how ever I now have these gnarly cold sores on one of my gums were the metal hits it and the other scraping the lip were the sore is. I woke up after putting my retainer in and my mouth had blood in it. I havent been able to wear my retainer for a a while and Im worried. Should I try to risk bleeding again or should I wait till the sore heal up?

  1. Buy Amosan, did wonders for me. Also try some of the wax, if you don't have any left over from your braces, you can buy it in stores.

If that doesn't work, go be to your ortho, it shouldn't be bothering you; even if he/she says so.

I barely notice mine, and I have to wear it 24/7

  2. Go and see your orthodontist and let him rehape the retainer.  He can also give you a prescription to heal the cold sores.

  3. you need to have it adjusted, your teeth have probably moved, and its hurting you now cause it doesn't fit. if your not near your ortho call up any local ortho offices to see if they can adjust it. also remember to keep them clean, and if you had them in the heat or near heat they could of distorted. for now rinse with warm salt water, use oral jel but see an ortho soon.
