The Rossoneri vice-president believes that snubbing Paris Saint-Germain’s €47m bid for the Brazilian is a great sacrifice by President Berlusconi in a tough time for the club.
Vice-President Adriano Galliani has hailed President Silvio Berlusconi for resisting the €47 million offer for Thiago Silva, and has stated that Zlatan Ibrahimovic now has no reason to leave the outfit.
The deal between the French and the Italian giants regarding the Brazilian's sale was reportedly on the verge of completion before negative reactions from the fans, manager and several team-mates pressurised the Rossoneri chief
to call-off the negotiations.
The surprise message appeared on the club’s official website, and simply read "President Berlusconi has decided: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thiago-Silva-c34903 is staying at Milan."
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adriano-c3773 Galliani has described the refusal to sell Thiago Silva as an act of heroism on part of the Rossoneri President, and has stated that the announcement was a huge relief for him.
The Diavolo vice-president went on to reveal that the money that the Milan outfit has been deprived off by cancelling the transfer will be made for by Berlusconi from his personal sources.
When asked if the snub will help keep a lid on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029’s intentions to move away from San Siro, the Rossoneri chief insisted that the Milan outfit now has a very competitive squad, and he sees no reason why the Swede
will want to leave the club.
While talking to Azzurro Italia, the 67-year-old said:
“Thanks to President Berlusconi, I feel much better now. This was an act of heroism from the President. The money Milan will lose by not making the sale will be pumped back into the club by Berlusconi. Will Zlatan Ibrahimovic remain
too? Of course he’ll remain. We are fully covered in all areas and have a formidable squad.”
Silva’s agent today hinted that if his client is deprived of the lucrative PSG contract, then AC Milan will have to re-negotiate a more attractive contract for the defender as a compensation.
Galliani was quick to point out that the Brazilian already has a contract with the club that extends to the next four years, and insisted that he will have to wait and see what happens.
The Diavolo chief reiterated his praise for the Rossoneri President, and insisted that the fans must show their gratitude for the chief that listened to his heart over reason.
