Retina detachment?

help us out plz. my dad had catarac surgery about a year or so ago, when the dr at the va hospital went in to remove the caterac he droped it back into his eye. he went back into get it and he wond up detaching his retina. he went back 5 more times to try to have it corected but it was unsecesful. my dad is now blind in his left eye. is there anything that can be done to fix this? or is it to late to try to fix? any help would be greatly appreciated.

  1. More than likely, what's done is done when it comes to the retina.  If a problem can be fixed, it has to be done in the first 24 to 48 hours.  I'm sorry for your Dad, but this is a potential risk with cataract surgery.  I've seen it several times....
