I undersstand that those with high refractive errors are at an increased risk of retinal tears/ detachment because of elongation of the eyeball, but is the same true for those whose high eyeglass Rx is caused by severe Astigmatism?

  1. Not likely, because Astigmatism is due to an irregularity in the cornea, which is on the outside of the eyeball.
