Retirement plans for Derbyshire Paceman Steffan Jones – Cricket News Update
Derbyshire pacer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kent-c802, Northants and Somerset veteran has decided not to renew his contract with the county side and take up a teaching profession.
The 37-year-old medium pacer was offered a new contract by county side Derbyshire but he wanted to end his association with the club and wanted to move back to his home town in Somerset.
He was presented with a three-year player coaching role but he preferred the chance to go back home.  This was his second stint with Derby and he has a total of 387 first-class wickets till date, after starting his career with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843 in 1997.
After spending seven seasons with his home county Somerset, Jones moved to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-Muchall-c1499 success. After that he moved to Derbyshire County where his performances helped him gain recognition.
In 2009, he joined Kent before returning to Somerset.  In his second stint with Derby he made his loan deal permanent and consequently signed a two year contract until 2011, which included a coaching role.

“I am very grateful for the offer made by Derbyshire,” he said.
“I know they did everything they could to persuade me to stay. But the opportunity of being head of cricket at a prestigious school and returning back to my family home is too good for me to miss. Both my spells with Derbyshire have been unforgettable and

Jones is Cambridge University graduate and is also fond of rugby.
