Question:

Retraining the part in my hair?

My hair naturally center parts. Over the years, I have put in a slight side part, but now I want to move that over farther because I found a style that I think looks cute. Problem is my hair always falls back to the slight part now. How do I retrain my hair to take on the more side part? I have tried a straightener to iron it in, but it doesn't work.

  1. Use a clip to clip your hair to the side.

Yeah, straighteners can't make your hair do that. They only straighten.

Anyways, if you don't want to use a clip, use a bobby pin. It's less noticeable. You can pick up bobby pins that are the same color as your hair. They're pretty neat, so I would pick up a pack of them from Sally's Beauty Supply Store, because they have discounted beauty products, or  you might be able to find them at Target.

  2. just comb it in the side part while wet and let it dry on its own (hairdryers and straighteners force the hair in an "unnatural" position and won't hold for more than a day). If you comb it the same way the next morning when dry, it should last until your next shower. I do that all the time, get my hair cut in a centre part and then comb it over to the style I want that day after I washed it.

By the way, even if you want a side part, get your hair cut in a centre part type of cut, that way you can experiment with the side parts all the time after showers and maybe find the style that's really you. You can even switch sides to see what that looks like.

    Good luck!

  3. I would suggest gel if you've already tried a straightener.

  4. wash your hair and towel dry it then part it were you want it and sleep in it.....do this a couple of times and itll come round

  5. Try parting your hair just before you have a shower... Be careful when your washing it so you don't disturb the way you've parted it. Once your hair is combed/brushed and still wet/damp use some bobby pins or clips to hold it in place, if you want try some mousse in your hair or maybe a light gel. That way, your hair will dry like this and after a few shots, it may just learn to stay that way, it worked for me...

    Good luck!

p.s. if it falls out of place, don't put it back... it will only take just as much, if not more work to start again! =)

    xx

  6. You need to have your layered in order to do that... I used to do that... My hair is extremely curly now... It doesn't work now... but have your hair layered or maybe just keep bobby pins in you r hair for a while.

  7. if you wash your hair at nite, this is best to do..

wash you hair, towel dry, and brush it out. part it how you want it, then take a little clippy and clip it there. then just go to sleep, and overnite your hair will 're-train' itself to stay there. thats what i do every nite and it helps me out b/c i have the same problem.

  8. After washing you hair, part it while it's wet and blow dry it while keeping the part in place
