Well, you aren't going to find very many cheaper bjds of that size, except the bobobie 43cm dolls.  For perspective, Bobobie is the very lowest end of the bjd price range, and companies like soom, volks, and luts are at the really expensive end.  Dolls between those extremes are mid-range.

Doll zone dolls, or rather, the one that I've actually seen in person, are good as minis go.  The only thing I'd have issue with are the knee joints; the ball part is made onto the lower leg.  But they're very pretty dolls, and seem to be pretty good quality.
