Return address on an envelope?

when u send out a regular mail letter..

i know u have to put the mailing address of the person ur sending the letter to

but is it required that u put a return address on the envelope?

NO, but if it doesnt reach it's destination, I assume it is discarded.

No law compels you to put a return address on the envelope; however, if you fail to do so, and the letter does not reach the addressee, with no return address, it is sent to the dead letter office, remains there for a year, and if unclaimed is destroyed.
