So due to an unfortunate event I (tried to) paid off a credit card bill with a check that held insufficient funds so i was tagged with a Return check charge (thats my fault) but then i was charge with another then another (from the same check) is it normal for credit cards companies to try, cash a check you sent over and over?

  1. Yes... once they try two times they can (if they wanted to) sue you for fraud.

  2. Generally companies will try to redeposit a check when it is returned NSF. More often than not funds will be in the account by the time of the redeposit. It would be rare for a company to attempt a redeposit more than once.

  3. They can deposit a check up to 3 times.  You should have put more money into your account or cancel the check.

  4. They are only supposed to put the check through 2 times. If they can't collect the funds the second time around, then they can't try to put it through again. You would have to re issue them another check.
