Return specialist Micheal Spurlock signs with Jacksonville Jaguars, DE Ryan Davis promoted – NFL News
The Jacksonville Jaguars confirmed they have made changes at a couple of positions to consolidate squad strength just before Chicago Bears' game this Sunday (Oct. 07), targeting a win over the visitors.
As per details, the team has let go defensive end Aaron Morgan and offensive lineman Daniel Baldridge to accommodate new arrival return specialist Micheal Spurlock and defensive end Ryan Davis, who has been promoted from practice squad to active roster,
on the 53-man roster.
Details of contractual terms of these two players have not been disclosed by either side, and this includes value and tenure of the deals that have respectively signed.
The team has lately been struggling at the special teams’ position and expects Micheal’s signing will address the situation to an extent. The return specialist also has experience of the receivers’ position and the team can use him as per requirement in
each game.
Spurlock’s record as a receiver consists of reception of 23 passes for 294 yards and two touchdowns. As a return specialist, he has one punt return for a score and two kickoff returns for touchdowns.
He has played for San Francisco 49ers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals and San Diego Chargers with total number of games he played in the professional career at 46.
The Jaguars hope they will duly benefit from his experience and skills, while the player himself is upbeat about receiving the opportunity.
Coach Mike Mularkey is targeting Bears’ game this weekend for a must win. The hosts have a single win out of this season so far and if a couple of more games are slipped through their hands, catching up with their rivals in the American Football Conference
(AFC) South division will certainly be a daunting challenge for them.
A win may not be an easy job for the Jaguars given the Bears are a competitive unit and have already beaten the Jags’ divisional rivals the Indianapolis Colts in the season opener. The hosts can take the home-field advantage to claim a victory.
