Return ticket/one way- baby is usa citizen, i am us resident, RSA citizen.

Can she go to south africa with me on a one way ticket . she has a usa passport. Or do we have to buy return ticket? do i need a letter from her father to state that she has permission to go with me?

  1. You must have a notarized and verifiable letter from the baby's father stating he gives his permission for you-name to take baby-name to country-name(s) for the period date to date.  Include identifiers such as passport #s, his home, work & cell phone numbers with a statement he can be called anytime to confirm.

    Baby is a dual national (if her father is a US citizen).  She has a right to citizenship in your country of citizenship.  Since, as I recall from your prior question, you plan an extended stay in SA, you will have no immigration problems if baby enters on an SA passport.  Baby needs to depart/re-enter US on the US passport.  But entering SA, baby needs round-trip plane ticket, visa, etc. unless you exercise her right to citizenship in your country of citizenship.


  2. She do not need  a return ticket, but you need a promission from the baby's father. A written one would be the best.
