Return to cricket field was an emotional moment: Yuvraj Singh – Cricket News Update
Indian all-rounder http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yuvraj-Singh-c98364, who recently played for the national side after roughly 9 months away from the sport, during which he underwent treatment for cancer, claimed that while he was obviously disappointed at the narrow 1-run loss the team suffered
in the final T20I against New Zealand, it had been an “emotional” moment for him to get back on the field.
“There are mixed emotions,” Yuvraj said after the game against New Zealand, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk, Chennai on September 11. “We lost a game that we should have won, but for me personally it was a big emotional moment to get on the field.
I had tears in my eyes when we were fielding, luckily the cameras did not catch it. I think I am timing the ball well and it can only get better from here.”
Yuvraj featured prominently in India’s 2011 ICC World Cup victory, during which he won the Player of the Tournament award. However, the competition had been interrupted for him by frequent bouts of bad health, and he was diagnosed with a rare form of germ
cell cancer at the end of 2011, with a tumour having been discovered in between his lungs.
Following his treatment in the United States in the earlier part of 2012, during which he underwent three sessions of chemotherapy, the 30-year-old returned to India in April this year, and started fitness training at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore
during June. Following his efforts, the southpaw was named in India’s 15-man squads for the team’s T20 series against New Zealand, and the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 during the second half of September.
While the first T20 was washed out due to rain, Yuvraj made his much awaited comeback during the second and final match. India won the toss and chose to field first, with Yuvraj bowling 2 overs for 14 runs, in addition to catching out James Franklin (1)

When the 30-year-old walked out to bat at number 4 during India’s innings, he received a standing ovation, and proceeded to justify his selection with an individual score of 34 off 26 (including 2 sixes and 1 four), in addition to joining skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MS-Dhoni-c2028
for a 42-run partnership off 38 balls.
“It was good to see Yuvraj come back and score some runs. It was a big game for him,” Dhoni said, going on to add that while the left-hander was not likely to bowl all four overs in a T20 match, he provided the team the sort of balance they needed, and served
as a variation in an attack comprising four specialist bowlers.
The partnership appeared to be going at a steady pace - however, Yuvraj was dismissed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 claiming the series 1-0 (2).
