Returning my iPod (it quit working yesterday)?

About a month ago I bought a Mac online and got the student deal where it comes with a free 8GB iPod nano, but yesterday my iPod quit working. I was wondering if I have to mail the iPod back or can I just take it to an Apple retail store to exchange it since I am going away for school in less than a week and don't want to have to worry about them mailing it to me at school.

try just takin git to the apple store they should be able to fix it or replace it there
