  1. Really it all depends on the North. South Korea canNOT reunite with North Korea until N. Korea gets its economy together. Imagine this scenario. Millions of N. Korean refugees fleeing to S. Korea, a dumped economy, dense cities with nowhere to house people. Don't want that happening, so it depends on how quickly N. Korea can get its act together. I think they're making some progress, but it is going to take a long time.

  2. Who knows when?

    Future is not guessable.

But I think reunification is possible, it depends on time.

  3. We may never know for sure... the reunification may not happen at all as far as we know.

Like the guy above me said, it is a sophisticated matter here. First of all, Kim Jung Il (김정일) doesn't like to reunite because he has been feeding North Korean citizens lies, such as "South Korea and the US is the poorest country in the world.", or "South Koreans starve everyday" (he thinks that lying will make the citizens put more faith in his leadership), and if S. Korea and N. Korea DO reunite, the North Koreans will find out that Kim Jung Il tricked them, and he probably will get punished by them.

Another problem is that some disagree to reunification, because North Koreans are communists, and they probably won't follow the South Korea's democratic rules (democracy means that you have to TRY HARDER to earn more money, whle communism means that the government will give the workers an equal share of salary, no matter if worker A was 100 times more productive than worker B). So there will be lots of complaints about this new democracy from the North Koreans, and soon, conflicts and maybe even genocides might occur.

Most South Koreans KNOW they need to reunite (Korea can become one of today's most POWEFUL countries if they unite South Korea's technology and North Korea's resources.

    Hope I solved your question.

  4. not until kim jong il is dead

    thats for sure

  5. This is very complicated and until the government of the North collapses and the insane current leader dies there is no chance of reunification.

China continues to prop up the North because they believe a unified Korea would be under the influence of the U.S.A.

There has not been any progress and I doubt there will be any for several years.

  6. it takes a long long time..

  7. The North doesn't want to. Why should they?

  8. The North's paranoid beliefs and the South's refusal to accept the failed administration of the North as an absolute dictator.  I think it will take the death of Kim to happen, and a coup for freedom by the people.
