can I reuse jam jars with lids for preserving jam

  1. yes u can, but clean it well before using it, better dry them in sunlight


  2. Yes, clean them well in warm soapy water.  Leave them soaking overnight to remove the labels.  

    When you are ready to fill them, put them in a pan of boiling water to sterilise them and fill them as soon as possible after that.


  3. If you are talking about empty jars of jam that you bought from the store, The National Center for Home Food Preservation does not recommend reusing commercial jars.  

    People do it, but I wouldn't it.  Ball canning jars and lids are not that expensive so I always use those.  

  4. Yes but clean and sterilise them first. Sterilise with something like Milton which they use for babies bottles.


  5. I think you need to replace the sealing lid each time (I don't know the name for it - the flat one that seals). My mom was very "thrifty" growing up but when she made her pickles she used new lids each time

  6. yes but you need to thoroughly clean them before using again and in some cases you may need to change the lid all together.
