Question:

Rev. Jeremiah Wright vs. Post 9/11 America

I might be stretching it a little, BUT do you think that if 9/11 had not have happened then the American public would not have had the same reaction to the preachings of Rev. Jeremiah Wright? Is this the symptom of a post 9/11 world where we do fear any repeated attack through extremist ideologies?

  1. I think the phrase "America, love it or leave it" came into existence long before 9/11.  It is apparent this country has many enemies, some home grown traitors and hate mongers.  I think the reaction to Wright was probably not strong enough considering 9/11.

  2. Lisa,

You pose a good question and ask it very intelligently.

I believe Rev. Wright would not have been scrutinized as he was if a member of his church had not run for president. Look at how long he preached (20+ years) before the conservative press took a close look at him.

Certainly 9/11 was a factor, but I think it was minor. Following 9/11 Wright continued preaching for over five years before 'being discovered.'

  3. I convinced my self i live in a parallel universe were this didn't happen you don't have to live in the real world believe what you want to be happy

  4. I don't see a correlation between 9/11 and Wright -

9/11 was an attack on this country by foreign terrorists; if anything, it should unite this country (although I know that, in reality, it doesn't always play out that way).

Wright is a BIGOT and a HATER - he would be condemned by any rational American at any time, irregardless of other events.

  5. but it did happen and now everyone is very sensitive towards any opposing views

  6. j wright is a racist either way ... lets all get to work and forget about slavery , slavery is over , and it isnt my fault , im a white dude
