Reverse not working

when holding my reverse the stitches were tiny and now is not working at all. also I noticed the light went out...the bulb did not blow after turning the machine off for a few minutes it came back on, the forward stitches returned to normal(they were tiny after pushing the reverse) that is when the reverse did not work at all.thanks...
