  1. Press your turn signal as you approach a parallel parking spot. The parking space must be 6 feet longer than your car. Pull up so the back of your car is even with the front edge of the parking space. Stay close to the car at your side.

Turn the steering wheel toward the curb. One full turn of the wheel is the right amount to put your rear wheels in the correct position. Put your car in reverse and ease backward, allowing your car to straighten out as it goes back.

Continue to go backwards until you almost touch the curb with your rear wheel. Put your car in drive and turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction.

Pull forward to straighten out your car and angle it away from the curb. Keep an eye on the car in front of you and the one behind you to be sure you do not hit either one.

Pull forward and backward as needed to center the car in the space.

  2. Okay, so you're driving in the parking lot. You find the spot you are going to reverse park into. You then count two parking spaces down. Line up your shoulder with the second parking space line furthest from your chosen parking spot. Put the car in reverse, and back slowly. Count 1 second, give the steering wheel a full turn to back into the spot... carefully straighten the car, and you're in!

Describing it online is kind of tough, but it works for me every time.

  3. the best tip I can offer is practice until you get it right.
