Question:

Reverse the effects of smoking?

I'm 23 years old, and whilst I was at university I used to smoke cigarettes, not that many about 5 a day for 2 years.. Prior to this I used to have great skin, and now I have actually stopped, just wondering if it's possible to reverse the effects of smoking on my skin.. I have been drinking lots of water and currently on a fruit fast to detox.

  1. Unless you have some kind of skin infection that responds to treatment, nothing you do will have any effect. If your skin is going to repair itself it will do so on its own. Indeed, you may be retarding the progress by going on weird diets that deprive your body of needed nutrients. Just eat a good balanced diet and drink as much water as your body tells you you need.

  2. Of course you can, it will happen naturally. I stopped smoking after smoking more than a pack a day for 20 years and my skin looks 10 years younger after only 3 months. I may not look as good as if I never smoked but even at my age my skin is doing a remarkable job of repairing itself.

If you want to speed up the process then try a good exfoliator or peel.
