Question:

Reverse the smoking ban!?

Since the government has introduced smoking bans in more and more places, it is becoming very difficult to escape the smoke. As a non-smoker, I used to avoid places where smokers were, but now I have to cross the road every time I pass an office or pub. Isn't it time to reverse this ban and let smokers have their smoky places back again and leave the rest of us in peace.

  1. shaz is right we should have the option, you cant have a pub thats male or female only so why should smokers be treated like lepers, there should be smoking pubs n like shaz says if you dont like it you dont enter

  2. I think that people who hate smokers are the same people who have in the past hated anyone else who was different from themselves.  These are people who get their self worth from demeaning others and looking down on them.  If it isn't smokers it will be fat people, or drinkers, or people of a different race or religion, or people who have too many children, or not enough.

There is nothing we can do about these people, they will always be with us.  Who they hate at any given time will change with political correctness, but they will always hate someone.

As to smoking, there should be separate spaces for smokers, as long as smoking is legal and taxed.  Bars and restaurants can declare themselves smoking or non-smoking, and people can patronize the establishments of their choice.  They do it in Holland, why not here?

  3. Agreed

  4. I agree with you!!! This smoking issue has gotten way out of hand- to the point where others rights are being discriminated, Thought we were Americans-"Freedom of Choice" makes me wonder ,Does this exist anymore??

  5. Intolerance is a very dangerous thing that inevitably leads to George Orwell's 1984.

  6. Agreed they should reverse it and make it up to the owner.

If you don't like it....don't go there..be you customer or employee

  7. When is enough, enough for some people? The only places people can smoke is in their own homes and outside in the open. The anti smoking lobby have got it banned  everywhere else. For heavens sake listen to yourself, air is continually circulating outside, even if a group were smoking it would disappear.in a second or two. If you are so close that it still affects you then maybe it is you, that is invading their, "personal" space. Reverse the ban? No, there should be areas where it is banned, but there also should be areas where people can socialise and have a cigarette. Being given the choice would have been nice.

  8. I know what you mean

It's great in pubs no smoke but in the summer it's going to be horrible having a drink outside!

The outside of any public place is FULL of smokers!

Can't they just ban smoking?!? :)

    In my dreams!

  9. As a pipe smoker for 20 years, I would obviously agree with you. You can always get away from the smoke by hiding in the cupboard under the stairs.

Tell me this; where do I go, as a non-driver, to avoid the noxious fumes pumped into the air by every automobile driver? Do you drive a car? Anybody who objects to people smoking but still drives a car should be shot.

  10. I think that smokers should only be able to smoke in their houses. Because if they are anywhere else its going to affect other people. Hey, why not just make it illegal? No offense to smokers, but I find it absolutely repulsive.

  11. They should have passed the law that smoking is prohibited within five miles of any doorway!

  12. Rather a perverse argument. I thought that they banned smoking in pubs, so that the intolerants could go into them without risking instant death from passive smoking. For that reason, you wont get much support.

To take it further, and start complaining about heavily diluted smoke permeating infinite space, is moving from intolerance to persecution, and is positively neurotic/obsessive, bordering on psychotic. Definitely time for a reappraisal of ones life, and to learn to separate important issues from trivia.

  13. Then you do not want to walk in the open air in France or Italy! They are puffing away like choo-choo trains - its unbelievably annoying!!

  14. That is the most intelligent statement on this subject that I have heard from a non smoker.  You should be prime minister.

  15. yes!!!! then i can smoke in the warm! and you can walk normally and nicely down the street lol..........x
