Review of Pakistan’s performance in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World T20 2012 – Part Five
Continued from the previous part…
The Green Shirts have faced immense criticism upon reaching back home, with some rumours of rift within the team as well. However, there have been some huge positive for the Pakistan side in the World T20.
The biggest of all was the way http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Raza-Hasan-c84407, two young players, stamped their authority on an event of such magnitude. Both of them played a huge role in the country’s success, helping their team qualify for the semi-finals.
Jamshed, the left-handed batsman, having spent a couple of years in the wilderness, made a comeback to the national team during the Asia Cup 2012, impressing one and all through a solid hundred against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at Dhaka. However, the stylish
opener missed the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 due to a finger injury.
The cricketer from Lahore returned to the national team during the series against Australia in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE), playing a wonderful hand in the second ODI at Abu Dhabi, to follow it up with impressive showing in the T20
series as well.
Jamshed came out with an aggressive approach in Pakistan’s opening match of the mega event against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 at Pallekele, scoring a 35-ball 56, with the help of two fours and four hits out of the park. Nasir struck a couple of sixes
over the extra-cover fence off the bowling of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/NL-McCullum-c2120, which can be rated among the tournament’s fines strokes.
While expressing his views after the game against the Black Caps, the 22-year-old cricketer said that he is extremely satisfied to have made a successful comeback at the international level. The hard-hitting batsman said that he intended
to control the game by taking the attack to the Kiwi bowlers.
"I was confident while coming back as everyone was saying that when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jamshed-c66276 said. "I have improved my game and today I showed those skills in the match. I wanted to control the
game because I was the set batsman at the time.”
The elegant batsman continued with the good work, registering another half-century against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755. Jamshed was wrongly given Leg Before the Wickets in the semi-final against Sri
Lanka, which proved to be the turning-point of the match.
Pakistan’s former captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asif-Iqbal-c46477, is delighted with the left-hander’s progress and feels that he has been the find of the tournament for Pakistan. Iqbal hopes that the talented stroke-maker will continue to perform well in future.
“I would say that Nasir Jamshed is definitely the find of the tournament. Although he played for Pakistan 3 or 4 years ago, but he is someone who has really performed exceptionally well," expressed Iqbal.
Nasir has done well consistently in past but he has proven his ability and temperament by doing exceptionally in a global tournament. Apart from being an aggressor, the left-hander has a solid technique as well, having all the requisites
to become a world-class player in the game’s all three formats.
Let us hope that Jamshed is not labeled as a limited-over specialist in the coming years and gets a proper opportunity in the longer format of the game. Taking into account his first-class record, one can safely predict his success
in all the versions of international cricket.
