Review of the News: Arsenal, Aston Villa and Birmingham City
Arsenal:
The Arsenal right winger, Samir Nasri, has no disbelief that his club-mate, the young Jack Wilshere, is going to be one of the big names in football. He said he was not surprised by the dramatic progress of Jack Wilshere. Samir Nasri added
that Jack Wilshere had already shown the glimpses of quality and talent he possessed.
The young French prodigy of Arsenal said about Jack Wilshere: "Like any young player, he needed to be given the opportunity to play. Not all players can get a chance to play at the biggest clubs and Jack's time at Bolton helped
him to progress. Jack is only 18 but he is already getting a regular slot at Arsenal. What he needs to do now is continue his progress without any fear of what is to come. The signs are good. He knows how important it is to go forward and play with a positive
mind-set. I like playing with him because he has so much technical ability and such great skill."
This weekend Arsenal has a chance to go on top of Barclays Premier League table if they defeat their fierce rival Tottenham Hotspur in a crucial derby which is going to take place at Emirates.
Aston Villa:
The new Aston Villa boss has called for patience in giving his crop of exciting young players’ time to develop.
The former Liverpool boss said: "The only thing with young players is you need sometimes to be patient and sometimes to be indulgent. I think at some stage one of them will have a very poor game but you must not judge on one
game. It's a whole picture thing. That's what I said to young Bannan because he was distraught after the game against Burnley in the Carling Cup. I said 'hang on; you're not in the team because of one game.' He thought it was a make-or-break game. I said 'no,
it's a whole thing, you will miss games, and you will have better games'. "Sometimes they are a little bit impatient."
Aston Villa will face Blackburn Rovers on Sunday and would look to continue their impressive recent form.
Birmingham City:
Birmingham City’s boss has urged his on-loan summer signing from Barcelona, Alexander Hleb, to sustain his reputation as a top quality after an unresponsive start to his loan spell with Birmingham. The former Arsenal player has struggled
for fitness since his temporary switch from Barcelona in August and has failed to make a significant contribution. He has been left out of the City starting line-up for the last two matches with Stoke and Manchester City and is unhappy with the situation.
The Blues boss said about Hleb that the Barcelona on-loan player was sad about not playing due to injury. McLeish added that the player of Hleb’s calibre would want to make an impact and Hleb should be willing to maintain his reputation
of a high class player.
McLeish said: “He started to look like the player we know he can be when he came on against Man City. We have to get him top fit. He's had injuries, he's missed training. He's a guy who has got to be in our team most weeks, unless
I do something tactically. But he can bring a level where it can help us create chances."
Birmingham City will welcome Premier League title holders, Chelsea on Wednesday and would look to at least earn a single point from the fixture.
