Aston Villa:
Ciaran Clark is one of the very few youngsters of Villa who made full use of the opportunities that were provided to them. Aston Villa has one of the most depleted squads in Barclays Premier League as their many big names are out of action due to injuries.
Clark scored twice against Arsenal last week at home after coming as a sub in the second half of the match.
Moreover, Aston Villa’s new manager said that he was very impressed by Clark’s quality. Gerard Houllier said that since he joined Aston Villa, he was very impressed by Ciaran Clark. The Frenchman added that he was not sure of Clark's best position.
Gerard Houllier said, "He's young, he can run, he can play, so I'm pleased to see him in the midfield," he said. "At the moment, I've got two good centre-backs, but he's a good player so I'm using him as a defensive midfielder."
Gerard Houllier and his men are currently placed on 16th spot of Barclays Premier League table. Aston Villa has earned 17 points out of 16 league fixtures and the Villains are only two points clear of relegation zone.
Aston Villa lost their last match against Liverpool by three goals at Anfield. It was indeed an historic night for the Villains new manager, Gerard Houllier, who returned to Anfield for the first time since his departure from Liverpool back in 2002.
Aston Villa will welcome West Bromwich Albion for the seventeenth round of Barclays Premier League next Saturday. Aston Villa somehow has better home form as they have won 3 matches, drawn 4 and lost only one match at Villa Park.
Blackburn Rovers
The long serving manager of Blackburn Rovers, Sam Allardyce is concerned about his defensive midfielder, Vince Grella’s fitness problems. The Australian international has been out of action since last month after sustaining a groin injury.
Moreover, Gera has failed to give consistence appearances for the Rovers, since joining Blackburn two years ago. He has also been unable to make a permanent place in the side due to a number of injuries.
The Big Sam said, "He can't seem to get a run of games to maintain the level of fitness we call match fitness. Vince has been unable to do that in his entire time here and has always broken down in some way."
Blackburn Rovers were thrashed by Manchester United by seven goals two week ago however, they bounced back in an impressive fashion and defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers by three goals at home.
Sam Allardyce and his men are currently on 11th spot in Barclays Premier League table with 21 points to their name from 16 league matches.
