Review of the News: Blackpool Everton and Fulham
BLACKPOOL
The Blackpool manager spoke of his pride after his side secured their sixth win of their first season in English Top flight football. The Seasiders talismanic midfielder DJ Campbell scored the only goal of the match against Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium
to give Ian Holloway and his men all three crucial points.
Now Ian Holloway and his men have 22 points to their name out of 16 Premier League games and they would look to retain their position in English top flight football competition.
Ian Holloway admitted they are ahead of schedule and said: "Someone had us down for only 10 (points) after 38 games. Bit of a laughing stock we were going to be. I just want to keep going. Twenty-two points won't keep you safe. How many more do we need?
Maybe more than 40 points. To come to a place that is so hard to win at, it was a fantastic display. We rode our luck, our `keeper was exceptional. This is as good as we have been. We had some big performances and DJ deserved the goal for the way he is playing."
EVERTON
Everton manager acknowledges his teams’ current form is worrisome as the Toffees only managed to get a single point home against Wigan Athletic who are currently battling relagation battle. David Moyes’ men created the majority of the chances but the closest
they came was when Lius Saha headed over in the first half and Fellani hit a post in the second.
However, the visitors defended extremely well and almost snatched a very late goal when substitute Stam’s long range effort on Everton goals was cleared by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tim-Howard-c35095.
Now, Everton have not won a single game in their latest seven and their manager admits their failure to take their chances is affecting the team and the supporters.
David Moyes said: "It certainly wasn't their attitude. I questioned it a bit in the last home game against West Brom (a 4-1 defeat) but they went for it. They were industrious without having the quality required but we just missed chances. I don't think
you get better chances in the Premier League than we did today - three or four opportunities. The longer we didn't take them the more frustrated we got and the more anxiety came into our play and the crowd. We just have to take those chances."
FULHAM
The Fulham manager is adamant that talismanic midfielder Clint Dempsey will not be going away from Craven Cottage in the winter transfer window. It has been reported that American midfielder of Fulham has been linked to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, where he would be reunited
with his former manager Roy Hodgson. Mark Hughes said: "I'm sure there is interest in Clint. Most good players are mentioned at some point in time leading into a window. There's been no contact from any clubs for Clint or any other player. Nor would we
encourage it because Clint's very happy here, is enjoying his football and is having an impact for us. If there any enquires about Clint, they'll be getting short shrift."
