BOLTON WANDERERS
Chairman Phil Gartside will open contract talks with much-improved Swedish striker Johan Elmander. Johan is the second top goal scorer of Barclays Premier League right now with eight goals to his name.
Since his arrival from a French outfit, Toulouse, Elmander has not performed well in his first two season in English League but it seems like he has finally found the goal scoring touch. He will be out of contract at the end of the season and Gartside recognises
the need to act quickly. Gartside said that Elmander’s contract will end next season and Bolton Wanderers would have to offer Elmander a new contract.
FULHAM
Zoltan Gera admits he is baffled as to why Fulham are struggling at the foot of the Barclays Premier League table. Bobby Zamora's injury is clearly a major factor in the downturn from last season, although Gera does not feel it tells the whole story.
Fulham are just one point ahead of relegation zone. Mark Hughes and his men have played 15 matches, in which they managed to bag only 15 points.
LIVERPOOL
Midfielder Christian Poulsen says there is more to come from him. The experienced Danish international has struggled to make his mark since joining from Juventus in August but said, “There has been a lot of pressure because the start to the season hasn't
been so good but everything is in place for me to try to get back into the team and make an impact on
Liverpool's season. I don't think the Liverpool fans have seen the true me yet. I hope we can move further up in the table and I really want to play a big part in it.”
MANCHESTER CITY
David Silva is refusing to get carried away by Manchester City's improving chances in the Barclays Premier League title race. Their impressive 4-1 win at Fulham closed the gap on joint leaders Chelsea and Manchester United to just three points but the Spanish
midfielder is trying not to look too far ahead. He added that all the top clubs of Barclays Premier League had lost points and it is important for Manchester City to take the opportunities well and close down the gap.
STOKE CITY
Stoke City first team coach Mark O'Connor believes the club's squad is strong enough to cope with the rigours of the Barclays Premier League.
He said, “We think we've improved the squad, we've got good players and the depth on the bench is fantastic. That tells me that we've moved forward.”
SUNDERLAND
The Black Cats’ assistant manager has admitted that the club could struggle to hold on to their on-loan Manchester United attacker, Danny Welbeck. Welbeck has been in immense form so far this season and has become a vital member of Sunderland’s starting
eleven. He was also clinical against Chelsea in a historic which saw Sunderland thrashing Chelsea by three goals. However, Sunderland know their hopes of signing him on a permanent basis could be dashed if he remains on the goal trail.
Black said, “That's the problem you have to face. If we can concentrate on the first bit and he can be exceptional for us this year and score 15 goals, we will deal with the other bit when it comes.”
