Review of the News: Chelsea, Everton and Fulham
Chelsea:
Fabio Borini's agent has confirmed that Chelsea have offered him a new contract, although the teenager is yet to agree terms. The Italy Under-21 striker joined the Blues from Bologna in 2007 and has since made eight first-team appearances.
He is out of contract at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season and negotiations are on-going regarding an extension.
Fabio Borini’s Marco De Marchi agent confirmed that Chelsea have made a contract offer. The Italian Under-21 striker has been linked with a move back to Italy in January, but De Marchi denied approving any news.
Marco De Marchi said: "Other clubs on him? As his agent, I cannot talk with other teams until after January. The player's contract is due to expire in 2011 and he has made several appearances in Chelsea and with the Under 21
national team so surely he's going to be an in-demand player. He's a high-level player, but I have not spoken with anyone."
Two seasons ago, since Fabio’s arrival from Bologna, he has been a first choice striker of Chelsea reserves. He was also the top scorers of the reserves, scoring 10 goals in 11 appearances.
Everton:
The Toffees have been given planning permission for a ten million expansion to magnify their merchandising and management proficiencies at Goodison Park. The four-floor, self-funded development will house retail store, museum, cafe, and
a fan-focused hospitality lounge and office space. It will also free up space which means capacity for corporate hospitality inside the stadium itself can be expanded.
Chief executive of Everton said: "The new building is an exciting phase in the development of Goodison Park. It will help us grow our business and will also get the entire Everton team under one roof, something that is long overdue
and an opportunity to further improve how we work as a team for the benefit of the fans."
Work will start before the end of the year and is expected to be completed in Autumn 2011, with the project being paid for entirely through the assistance of existing club retail partner and stadium catering partner. The development confirms
Everton’s medium-term future remains at Goodison after plans to build a new stadium collapsed last year when they were rejected by the Administration.
Fulham:
Defender Stephen Kelly believes Fulham are close to winning their first away match of the season after their display against Newcastle United.
The Cottagers defender said: "We had chances to win, and I do think we are getting closer - I don't think it's too far away. We're certainly not negative in our approach away from the Cottage; we are creating opportunities and taking the
game to teams. I think it was a very well organised performance from us and we never really let them play. They did have chances of their own, but that is to be expected when you play away from home."
Fulham is currently one place above the relegation zone and their away form has not been very impressive since the start of this season. So far, they have played seven away matches, in which they managed to draw five games and lost two
and failed to win any.
