Review of the News: Wigan Athletic and Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wigan Athletic:
Wigan Athletic's first win in six league matches took them out of the bottom three. On the topic manager Roberto Martinez praised Victor Moses for his contribution against West Bromwich Albion. Martinez said: "We wanted to stretch
the game and that is why I sent him on. He has the ability and is in a great moment. He came on against Liverpool and did well on Wednesday. I am not just using him as an impact player. He had a couple of injuries and has had to bide his time. He is still
adapting to the Premier League. Victor is a very mature player and is ready to help the team. He is a raw talent."
Wigan Athletic has a tough fixture coming up as they will visit Old Trafford on Saturday to face the only unbeaten team of Barclays Premier League, Manchester United. Currently, their standing in the table is also not good as they are
only a single point above the relegation zone.
Wolverhampton Wanderers:
Mick McCarthy’s midfielder Karl Henry thinks people should not be so fast to criticize players when their challengers cause injury. The former Stoke City player came under passionate inquiry previously this season when a challenge badly
injured Clint Dempsey. The 27-year-old was only shown a yellow for the rigorous challenge and some of judges sensed it was an incident of bad timing rather than nastiness. But the vigorous encounter on the Fulham player challenged by WBA’s midfielder, Chris
Brunt which led him to a straight red card saw much criticism by Karl and his team - something which Karl Henry took to heart.
He said: "I've doubted myself. I put on a game from about seven years ago. We played Nottingham Forest at Stoke and I put in plenty of tackles that day. I just wanted to check that my game has not altered. And my game hasn't
altered at all - I've always put in lots of tackles, it's the way I've played and nothing's changed. In the Championship you see tackle after tackle and there's no problem with it. At this level there seems to be a problem with slightly mistimed tackles. The
pace of the game is something that's a massive point. Players are so fast and so strong. People are so big, powerful and strong. Something that's slightly mistimed ends up with someone doing a flip and it looks so bad. It almost looks malicious and that's
not the case a lot of the time. People have got to look past someone being flipped in the air or someone not winning the ball and see was it deliberate? Was it malicious? And a lot of the time it isn't."
Whereas, his team, Wolverhampton Wanderers are battling relegation zone as they are at the bottom of the table sharing equal points with West Ham United i.e. 9. Wolves will visit Blackpool for the 14th Barclays
Premier League fixture and would look to earn three points in order to get out of relegation zone.
