Question:

Reviews and Opinions of Carnival Victory with child under 1?

My son will only be 17 months when we cruise. He supposedly cannot swim in the pool and he cannot participate in the Camp Carnival - so what does he do? How strict are they on these rules?

Will we be able to take excursions? Do the tour buses have car seats?

  1. The Victory is no different than any of the other cruise ships.  There will be nothing for a child that age to do.  Most of the kids' camps require the kids to be potty trained.  And from what I've read, they are pretty strict about the age limits and the no-diapers thing.  You can pay to get a baby-sitter in your cabin in the evening.

Excursion buses will not have child seats.  You would be limited in which excursions you can do by what your child can do.  For example, you won't be able to climb Dunns River Falls in Ocho Rios, unless you take turns staying with the baby at the bottom of the falls.

If at all possible, it would be better if you left the baby with your parents and just go as a couple.  You'll have more fun [except for missing the baby!] and so will the baby, because he's too young to enjoy it.  Having to get sunscreened constantly, not being able to keep his regular routine, etc. would be stressful for him.

  2. try cruisecritic.com and search for reviews under Carnival then under the ships name. They are very strict with the swimming and Camp carnival ages. I have never seen a car seat on an excursion bus. I've been on the Imagination, Inspiration, and Valor. Do you have a sister, aunt or mom that the little guy can stay with? Alone time with your husband will strengthen your marriage and benefit your son because of it. Your son will not remember any of it and you will be limited in choices of activities, dining and excursions. Bon Voyage
