Ok so my first question a few min ago was incorrect. Im trading in my VW Jetta 2002 to buy a new car with cash..Meaning I will use my debit card and pay it out right. Sory I confused people. Anyways I want tips on what I can do to get them to give me a deal on a car. Also should I wait to tell them I have a trade in until after they give me a price on what I want?

Sorry for the confusion yall..

  1. First, dealers don't give better deals for cash. They actually make more money by arranging financing for customers, from which they receive a commission or kickback.

Second, negotiate your best price with the dealer on the new car BEFORE you mention the trade-in. That way, you can keep the two transactions separated and it avoids giving the dealer a chance to create a confusing mixed transaction.

  2. No matter what you are told whether you tell or do not about trade it will not matter as to getting a better deal.  your chancxe on a best deal is to be upfront and honest and ask for KBB  fair condition for trade which is the norm if it is in good cndition and needs nothing major and 3% above invoice and everybody will be happy instead ofgoing round and round and ending up in same place. A dealer will assume trade any way so why hide it.  they will give same before or after as well as car price. If they don't like price they just will not sell . 3% is what all buying services get.  KBB fair condition is where crs to trde start so....
