Revival of international cricket in Pakistan- ECB Chairman Clarke declares Pakistan will host international matches in the future
Time is seemingly, to be changing for the cricket lovers of Pakistan. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Chairman Giles http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 has finally declared that Pakistan will be hosting international matches in the future. Such declaration are a boost for the country, as it spreads a good name all around and is a sign to the outsiders that the country is bringing itself back on the right track, after the horrific terrorist attacks and the numerous natural disasters the country has gone through in recent times.
Ever since, the Sri Lankan cricket teams attack, people hold prejudice against Muslims and especially those that are Pakistani. In this crucial period, the Pakistani cricket team is fighting a battle to sustain its position in the international arena. Due to the same attack on the Sri Lankan team in 2009, the people of Pakistan have no expectation to host any international match anytime soon. ECB has called for Pakistan’s return as a host of international matches and said an International Cricket Board (ICC) World XI could tour the country “in due course” since it is still not possible for national teams to visit due to security issues.
Moreover, alienating Pakistan from hosting matches was a great mark on the Pakistani team as well. They had to face repercussions of the actions caused by others. These fundamentalists that reside among Pakistani gave a bad name to the entire nation, obstructing the way for people in almost every field and especially those that have to face individuals from around the globe every day.
Cricket is the one game that is extremely popular in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javed-Miandad-c66580. They also include various international players such as Shane Warne, Brian Lara, Ricky Ponting, Sachin Tendulkar and many more international superstars.
Pakistan is lucky that cricket is one of the areas that the Government invests in wholeheartedly; otherwise, the losses that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) faced due to the inability to host international matches would have been immense. PCB Chairman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128 is very grateful to Clarke for his efforts and expressed his gratitude.
Butt says, “It is indeed heartening to note that the cricket fraternity is working on revival of cricket in Pakistan. I am very grateful to Mr. Giles Clarke who is a dear friend of Pakistan, for pursuing our case and working tirelessly in bringing international cricket back to Pakistan”.
It is good to see that the need of this was recognized by the ICC and they understand the state PCB was going through under the given circumstances. The board surely relies on this news to become the building stone for the revival of cricket in Pakistan.
England skipper, Andrew Strauss believes that while the cricketing world has a responsibility towards Pakistan due to their situation, and the right stance should be taken by the international arena. Strauss says, "With the natural disasters there, some of the difficulties they've had in terms of terrorism over the last couple of years it's very difficult for their players to keep their minds on the job and play at their best. We can have sympathy for them in that sense, but it doesn't come into it on the pitch. It's like getting into a boxing ring: you can't have sympathy for the guy you're competing against".
Thus, it is yet to be seen what course of action is taken by the ECB and ICC. The exhibition match to be played in Pakistan will make a big difference for the cricket of this deprived nation. Moreover, it would definitely serve the purpose of collecting the right amount of finances for the destruction occurred in the country. It is the number of international players who show their willingness to play for this noble cause which would actually make the difference. Surely, the involvement of ICC and ECB is going to give the international arena the confirmation of Pakistan being a safe and friendly venue to be played on.
