Revival of successful QB Peyton Manning-receiver Reggie Wayne combo possible-NFL News
The quarterback, Peyton Manning, is tipped to be interested in revival of the prolific QB-receiver combination, with Reggie Wayne in the future.
Both players have spent 10 seasons with Indianapolis Colts and the combo is considered as one of the most successful of all, in terms of producing results.
Now, Peyton Manning, who is recovering from a neck injury and longing to return to the game, is said to be keen in seeing this partnership reviving again at Colts, or may be with some other National Football League (NFL) team.
As per recent developments, the QB is increasingly becoming an impossibility for Colts, and is most likely to be cut loose by the expiration date of the bonus payment deadline, March 08, 2012.
Under the terms of the deal, Colts have to pay Manning $28 million optional bonus by the date, and if they are unable to honour this commitment, the player will hit the free agency after the NFL trade deadline, on March 13, 2012.
Manning will then hold the prospects of signing with any other team and if that happens, the potential team could likely be willing to allure Wayne from Colts, according to some reports.
Peyton himself is expected to be excited about the possibility of playing along with the receiver to wage another successful run in their football careers.
Both players have played a tremendous role in Colts’ performances and wins and any team interested in Manning will certainly be benefiting more by bringing in the player’s old partner.
For the time being, Peyton Manning is keenly waiting for a decision by Colts to determine the future course for him, and if he receives the bonus payment, he will be able to fulfil his wishes by staying with Colts.
Several teams have spoken of their desire of pursuing Manning off the free agency.
However, the player himself has not expressed interest in joining any particular outfit.
He is only hoping for the return to Colts, which is well within the desperation of the fans, who also want him to come back to Indianapolis, as they campaign for it.
Interestingly, Wayne’s form has badly been affected since Manning’s absence and the player has struggled to effectively co-ordinate with other offensive players of the team, such as QB, Dan Orlovsky.
It is for the first time the receiver has gone so low in his 10-year career with Colts.
He has not spoken about the possibility of playing along with Peyton Manning in future, but is said to be anxious to see it become a reality again, if Manning returns to Colts, or otherwise.
Wayne must be interested in moving to the team Manning will be joining, if released by the Indianapolis Colts, as well.
The first week of March 2012 is expected to clear the situation around Peyton’s future.
