OK so I have a four month old kitten and the vet gave me a sample tube of Revolution to try..He stays indoors most of the time, but he goes out about an hour a day to play..So anyways I put the revolution on him, but not sure if I did it right..I was trying to do it by myself and I really couldnt get the fur pulled apart, so I think most of it just flopped out right on top of his fur..Anyways today i found a flea on my leg, and I am wondering does revolution actually work, did I apply it wrong, and is my house going to get infested with fleas? and can i use any other flea treatment on the cat or do I have to wait a month to treat him????

  1. DO NOT USE ANY FURTHER FLEA TREATMENT - YOU MAY PUT THE CAT INTO ANAPHYLACTIC SHOCK THROUGH OVER TREATMENT .... Flea treatments take a little while to work - if you read the leaflet it tells you it will kill adult fleas and the eggs that hatch will be sterile .... a flea's lifecycle is about 30 days - from egg - to larva - to flea .... so you have to wait for the cycle to complete to be sure you get all of them .... combing and grooming your cat in the meantime is a good way of minimising your cat's fleas until they are all hatched, sterile and dead .... hoover your home really well and use a flea spray for the house (keep the door closed - without anyone or any animal in there for 30mins - then air the room completely - rotate one room at a time if your cat doesn't go out - works well) ....

  2. revolution will keep fleas from getting on kitty but will not kill eggs or existing fleas that may have come into your home. What i suggest is get some flea bombs and take all animals and kiddos out for the day and let the flea bombs kill any trace of fleas. Next you should spray a yard spray around the yard to get rid of fleas and eggs. When you are treating your home for fleas if you also intend to use a spray, concentrate around where the baseboard meets the carpet, alot of people don't realize this but the fleas may burry down inbetween those areas, that is what the guy at home depot told me. If you want to immediately kill fleas that are on kitty, avoid the sergeants shampoos, my vet said they can sometimes be overly harsh on such sensitive skin and take just a tiny dab of Dawn dish soap original and lather into kitty's fur. You should consult your vet before doing this to a young cat, rinse and it will immediately kill fleas and not harm kitty's sensitive skin :) yay! I have found that revolution is only effective after treating your home and yard, wash pet, dry pet and then apply the medication to the pet. Don't worry about getting it perfect while applying as long as you massage it into the skin and make sure that it is well blended to where the medication reached the animal's skin. Remember behind the neck especially is where you want to make sure you get the medicine.

remember that flea eggs can live and hatch in vaccum cleaner bags..... eeeeekkk
