yes, both the final and semi-final swimmers get the gold medal

yes. unfortunately everyone else on here didn't understand/ doesn't know what they are talking about. the USA swimmers who swam in the prelims of the 4x100 free relay also get a gold medal that the swimmers who swam in finals get.
