Rex Ryan to face NFL probe over foul language – NFL News
Rex Ryan has been caught embroiled in yet another bad situation with a fan. This time a fan’s statement terming the New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick better than him prompted Ryan to use foul language. Off course the 37-16
loss to the New England Patriots may have also been one of the factors behind his anger. Unfortunately for Ryan his vulgar remark has been caught on camera and downloaded on YouTube.
Action by the leagues seems imminent with one NFL spokesman confirming that the incident would be investigated.
"We'll take a look at it, but don't want to speculate on any outcome," the spokesman said.
The New York Jets coach may face a possible fine from the league. However, Ryan later seemed to regret the incident and was apologetic while accepting his mistake.
"I obviously made a mistake. I was full of emotion and just popped off. Obviously, I know I represent the League, I know I represent the Jets, and I know it was a mistake. I apologize for it.” Ryan said.
"I make mistakes all the time, I'm not perfect by any stretch," he said. "I try to get better, but sometimes my emotions get the best of me."
This is not the first time that Ryan has been caught up in an incident like this. Back in 2010, Ryan during a mixed martial arts event made an indecent gesture towards a fan resulting in a fine of $50,000 being imposed by the Jets.
But this time it would not be the jets but NFL that will be taking the action since the incident occurred during a game.
On the other hand, it seems that Ryan was not the only one in vulgar mode that night. Belichick while leaving the field with his son used an indecent remark to attack the Jets’ defence. Belichick has denied any such act.
"I don't remember it that way," he said. "I don't think we're here to talk about that.”
Belichick is lucky to escape from the leagues scrutiny as what he said was part of a private conversation and not something public like the issue of Ryan. This was confirmed by a spokesman of NFL.
