Rexy Mainaky optimistic for a better show from Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong in Sudirman Cup
Malaysia’s national coach for Men’s Doubles, Rexy Mainaky, is very optimistic for a better performance from Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong in the Sudirman Cup, which is the biggest mixed team championship in the arena of Badminton, starting from May 22,
in China.
Kien Keat and Tan Boon are the top seeds in Malaysia, in the Men’s Doubles category. The duo have been struggling hard from last year and finally got a title win last month, when they clinched the home event of Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold 2011.
Rexy said that he is expecting the pair to deliver a superb performance in every match in the team championship, as the duo is working hard in the training sessions to eliminate all their mistakes, which have been disturbing their performance from the last
one year.
While talking about the condition of the Malaysian top seeds, Rexy said, “They are looking more confident after winning the Malaysia Open Grand Prix Gold (in Alor Setar last week).”
He further added, “I hope that Koo and Tan will win every match. Their contribution to the team will strengthen our hopes to remain as the top four in this world mixed team event.”
Kien Keat and and Tan Boon are also determined to perform well, as it will be an important tournament for them before the mega event of the World Badminton Championships, kick-off from August 8, in England.
All the top teams in badminton will participate in this event as it is the most prestigious tournament in which male and female players both play in the same match. The Malaysian duo will be competing against top pairs from China, Indonesia, Denmark and
Korea. They have to be at their best to beat their opponents form these dominant countries in badminton.
In the Sudirman Cup, Kien Keat and Tan Boon will join forces with Lee Chong Wei, Wong Pei Tty, Chong Wei Feng, Chin Eei h*i, Goh Liu Ying, Vivian Hoo, Chan Peng Soon, Lydia Cheah, Thien How and Tee Jing Yi.
