Malaysia’s Women’s Doubles national coach, Rexy Mainaky, is satisfied and happy with the performance of Wong Pei Tty and Chin Eei h*i in first round of the Korea Open Premier Super Series 2012, on Wednesday, January 4, in Korea.
The Malaysian duo crushed the higher ranked shuttlers from Chinese Taipei, Cheng Wen Hsing and Chien Yu Chin, who have been placed at number seven in the Women’s Doubles world standings.
Pei Tty and Eei h*i are currently World Number 19 and want to break into top-16 to qualify for Olympic Games. They played to their maximum potential against the Taipei opponents and won the battle in straight games without facing any problem.
In the opening set of the match, the Malaysia duo showed no mercy to their opponents and remained successful in setting up a remarkable lead in the opening half. The Taipei players could not play effectively at the net and remained trailing.
The Malaysian shuttlers continued their killing performance in the second half of the first game and took it with a remarkable margin of 21-16.
In the following game of the match, Pei Tty and Eei h*i continued their smashing form and showed no respect to their higher ranked rivals. They remained far ahead and in the second game and won it with a one-sided score of 21-13.
The overall result of this straight set battle was 21-16 and 21-13.
Rexy was happy with the impressive victory of the Malaysians in the opening round of the tournament.
He said, “I had only hoped for one thing when we ushered the New Year – for Eei h*i and Pei Tty to enjoy playing badminton again. I wanted to see the positive side to their game. Today, they showed it.”
He further added, “It was a good win for them. They were clear about the game plan and played patiently. It was a good game. The win against the seeded pair will also boost their qualification for the Olympic Games. It will give them some valuable points.”
The coach wants them to play in the similar fashion and get the precious ranking points which will help them to improve their world rankings and qualify for the Olympic Games.
