Rexy Mainaky says Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif - Hoon Thien How will continue playing together

Malaysia’s Doubles national coach, Rexy Mainaky stressed that the Men’s Doubles shuttlers, Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif and Hoon Thien How will continue playing together as a pair despite of their unimpressive performance at the 2011 World Championships.
Mohd Zakry and Hoon Thien, who are currently placed at the 25th position in the Men’s Doubles world rankings, lost their second round match against Taiwan’s Lee Sheng Mu and Fang Min Lee. The Malaysians could not deliver a good performance against
the Taiwanese shuttlers, who were playing better badminton.
However, Rexy said that the pair will continue participating in events together and he is optimistic that they will qualify for the 2012 London Olympics. The Malaysian duo were given a chance to participate at the World Championships instead of Tan Bin Shen
and Gan Teik Chai, who qualified for the world meet on merit as independent shuttlers.
However, the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) gave a chance to Mohd Zakry and Hoon Thien, the lower ranked national shuttlers, to compete at the event and the duo could not live up to expectations.
While talking about the second round defeat of the Malaysians, Rexy said, “Yes, I was disappointed with the way we the lost. There were mistakes which should not have happened. They just did not want it as much as the coach, I guess.”
Nevertheless, the coach also said that Mohd Zakry and Hoon Thien want to make improvement and he is hopeful that they can achieve heights by working hard in the right direction. He further added, “But I have spoken to them and I know they want to make amends.
They are comfortable with each other and I have decided to keep them together.”
Rexy also expressed the next target for the pair by saying, “Their next mission is to qualify for the Olympic Games. We will continue to send them to international tournaments to win good qualifying points.”
Now, Mohd Zakry and Hoon Thien are expected to continue their partnership for the 2012 London Olympics, which will be held at the same venue where the mega event of World Championships is in progress.
