Rexy Mainaky wants BAM to take a decision regarding his coaching future – Badminton news
Malaysia’s Doubles chief coach, Rexy Mainaky wants the Badminton Association of Malaysia to take a quick decision regarding him coaching Koo Kien Keat, as the shuttler remained absent from training sessions for the last three days.
The absence of Koo Kien proves that he does not want to continue playing under the supervision of Rexy. However, Koo Kien’s Doubles partner, Tan boon Heong is attending the training sessions with Rexy. The pair is currently placed at Number Five in the world
standings.
The poor performance of Malaysia’s doubles shuttlers in the 2011 BWF World Championships has dented the reputation of Rexy, who is a specialist for training doubles. He has been serving Malaysian for the last five years and has brought glory to the country
in many major international tournaments.
Now, he is under severe criticism as many officials want him to leave the post of chief coach. Rexy’s further role in the BAM is set to be decided in the meeting of CTC (Training and Coaching Committee), which will take place of September 8.
After the consistent absence of Koo Kien, the coach requested BAM to decide quickly that whether Koo Kien and Tan Boon will remain under his charge or not. He insists that BAM should decide his position immediately as waiting for September 8 is just a wastage
of time.
Rexy said, "I feel whatever decision from BAM should be made quickly as this situation is not good. Kien Keat did not turn up for training for the third time and there is a problem. Whether they don't want me to continue coaching Kien Keat-Boon Heong or
my services are not needed altogether should be decided soon. Why wait until Sept 8?"
The coach further added, "I have been training since Saturday and whether there should be any changes in our training is for BAM to decide. I don't want to say anything. I have not spoken to Kien Keat over the weekend."
The decision of CTC will determine the future of Rexy as a chief coach in the national setup and the future training programme for the 2012 Olympic Games will also be finalised in the meeting.
