Rey Mysterio vs. Jack Swagger – Rey Mysterio Retains Championship, Kane Cashes In Contract
This match had a brutal start, a brutal end and brutal consequences. It was the all-American amateur wrestling champion who battled against the World Champion, Rey Mysterio with the prestigious World Championship title on the line at the long awaited Money in the Bank, Pay per View.
The match was a classic as both wrestlers fought and executed their signature moves in the ring and did not back down even after receiving the hardest of beatings from each other. The crowd cheered for Rey Mysterio who countered the vicious attacks of Jack Swagger despite having an injured ankle.
Jack Swagger's strategy during the match revolved around attacking the ankle of Rey Mysterio. It was the same ankle which Jack Swagger injured a few weeks back as he trapped Rey Mysterio is the vicious Ankle Lock submission hold.
Rey Mysterio showed some great in ring athletic ability as he jumped multiple times in the air to land on the neck of Jack Swagger. But Jack Swagger kicked out before the count of three every time Rey Mysterio went for the cover.
At the end of the match when the energy of Rey Mysterio was almost drained, Jack Swagger eventually went after the injured ankle of Rey Mysterio and trapped him in an Ankle Lock. Rey Mysterio screamed in pain but Jack Swagger showed no mercy as he twisted it with full force.
But then Rey Mysterio freed himself from the Ankle Lock by gathering his strength. Rey Mysterio suddenly jumped into the air and trapped the neck of jack Swagger with his legs. Rey Mysterio swung his legs and there was Jack Swagger rolling in the air and falling on the ring floor.
It was all over as Rey Mysterio went for the cover and the referee counted to three with both Jack Swagger's shoulders touching the ring floor.
Jack Swagger was furious at his defeat as he desperately wanted to win the World Title. Jack Swagger again trapped Rey Mysterio in the Ankle Lock and started twisting his ankle. Rey Mysterio was in pain and there was no way for him to get out of the lock.
But then everything turned red as the big red monster 'Kane', walked on the ramp and entered the ring. Jack Swagger became the first victim of Kane as Kane picked up Jack Swagger and slammed him in the middle of the ring.
That was not an ordinary assault as Kane was cashing in his Money in the Bank contract. Kane received this contract after winning the Smack Down Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Kane picked up Rey Mysterio and choke slammed him while the crowd went silent and watched the carnage.
More destruction was yet to come as Kane executed the tomb stone pile driver. During this dreaded move Kane picks up his opponent, makes the mark of a tomb stone and bangs the head of his opponent on the ring floor by creating a huge impact.
Kane went for the cover as the referee counted to three with both shoulders of the World Champion, Rey Mysterio touching the ring floor. Rey Mysterio was no longer the World Champion as Kane raised the belt as the World Champion. Fate has strange ways of expressing itself, as the red monster, Kane became the World Champion for the first time in nearly 10 years.
The coming weeks on Friday Night Smack Down would be filled with destruction and carnage as Kane will defend his newly won World Title at all costs. But the big question is that now the Kane has become the World Champion, will Kane continue his hunt for the culprit who assaulted his half brother Under Taker on the Memorial Day weekend?
