he has improved a lot since his rookie year as he's now working the count and getting base on balls more often which is good for OBP.

He certainly is. He's the full package. Personally, I've always thought that steals and doubles were better weapons for a leadoff hitter than the home run. With a stolen base threat on first, that distracts the pitcher, and also forces him to throw more fastballs to those batting behind him. With a leadoff man on second, either by double or stolen base, he still has to throw more fastballs, but those fastballs then turn not only into base hits, but RBI's. This can then turn into a big first inning. A leadoff home run is only one run. Once that's done, the pitcher can then go after the rest of the lineup. Jose then adds the threat of a triple, which is always fun and gets the fans and teammates excited.
