Rezie Timmermans beats Myriam Errouane in Women’s Singles round-of-16 at European Universities Games
Nederland’s upcoming female shuttler Rezie Timmermans showed her brilliance on court as she powered her way into Women’s Singles top-eight stage after beating Myriam Errouane of Switzerland in the round-of-16 at the European Universities Games-Badminton
Individual Tournament 2012 in Spain, on Monday, July 16.
The in-form Rezie, who is un-seeded in Women’s Singles main draw, employed everything she had to overpower her rival and managed to win the battle after putting up a sensational show of aggressive badminton.
The Dutch lady won the first game but lost the second set with a dramatically tight margin. However, she found her flow back in final game and won it with a huge margin. She left the court as a winner of pre-quarter-final battle in rubber games.
In the meanwhile, Myriam played competitive badminton in opening both games but failed to prove her class in the deciding set and crashed out from the tournament by losing this contest with a respectable score on the board.
In the opening game, both shuttlers showed their brilliance and remained toe-to-toe until the mid-game interval.
However, it was Rezie who played with variations at this stage and started to dominate the pace of rallies. She was incredible in her execution of shots and eventually won the game with a 21-18 margin on the board.
In the second set, Myriam also put up staggering show of attacking badminton and remained close to her Dutch opponent throughout the opening half.
After the break, both ladies continued their highly elevated run on court and reached at 23-23 when Rezie executed wrong shots and lost the game with a 23-25 margin on the board.
However, the in-form Dutch shuttler was on a different level in the final game when she played at her best speed and took a huge lead until the break.
After the one-minute interval, Rezie continued putting up superb performance on court and did not face any trouble in finishing it off with a huge score of 21-11.
The impressive Rezie emerged victorious in this spectacular rubber-set contest against Myriam with a 21-18, 23-25 and 21-11 margin on the board.
