They are white silkies, I got them as chicks too oung to s*x and they cockerals! I have 2 that need homes. Anyone advise? I can't keep them one to a run for ever!

  1. Try freecycle, give them away to someone local.  Or try advertising in the shop you get the chicken feed from, or in the local paper.

  2. There's no need to neck them =]

... your cockerels are purebred .. which is a great thing ..... as people have already said put and add in the paper ... Silkies and marans are quite hard to get hold of so they should sell .. as long as you say pure bred the  same story  with the RI RS (rhode island ..reds) .... they should be sold for around €15-20 ......

as a temporary solution if they are all males just keep the boys together just make sure there are no females in with them (that's why they fight) ... then they will get on .. and live together.... and keep the females well out of sight =D

(at the moment I , myself have 10 purebred cockerels living together simply cos i didn't want to get rid of them and they have such lovely carachters!) and they are so beautiful )

all the rest of my chucks are all together but away from the males =P

    Good Luck !

  3. Where I live in Scotland many keepers give away cockerals rather than selling them as there's no demand because you only require one in a flock.

It's healthy for a cockeral to belong to a flock and manage his girls so it's a bit unfair to keep him on his own.

I see them advertised as 'free to a good home' in the local trading papers. People will either take them if they want to breed chickens or if they've lost a cockeral to a fox for example. If I were you I'd advertise in the trading paper, it's free and it's usually where someone would look if they're after livestock and pets etc.

It must be difficult giving them away though with what little characters they are.

    Good luck!
