Rhymers Ha´ tipped to win John Rowe´s Last Racecourse 60th Handicap Hurdle
Rhymers Ha´ is likely to prevail in the John Rowe´s Last Racecourse 60th Handicap Hurdle at Kelso in England on Saturday, March 24, 2012. The winner of the class-4 event will walk away with a cash prize of £2,599.
Going will be good in the 2 mile, 6 furlong and 110 yard event, which will test the stamina of the runners. The race will start at 4:05 GMT and a total of 13 entries have been confirmed for it.
Following are the runners lined up at Kelso: Rhymers Ha´, Scotswell, Four Fiddlers, Sharney Sike, Malin Bay, Easement, Venitzia, Highrate, I´ll Be Frank, Pyjama Game, Risk Runner, Ballymacduff and Political Paddy.
The bookies have complete faith in the abilities of Rhymers Ha´, who has been performing well since making debut. However, he has not won a single race until now, thus the bettors might be a touch hesitant over risking money on him.
The five-year-old gelding has taken part in three hurdles until now, winning none of them. Despite that, he has managed to win the confidence of the bookmakers because of his consistent showings.
Lucinda Russell’s trainee has finished runner up in all three hurdles he has taken part in. He will be chasing his maiden victory in such events. His performances have not been bad at all, but he just needs a little more luck to cross the finish line ahead
of everyone.
Campbell Gillies will be the one partnering Rhymers Ha´ in today’s race. The seasoned jockey has earned 63 victories in hurdles until now and will be looking forward to another solid show.
The bookies have also given good odds to Scotswell, who has got some experience of racing over hurdles. He has taken part in 15 of such events, but managed to win just three. His strike rate is not good, which suggests that he might not find it easy to finish
on top of the table.
The six-year-old gelding has been performing well over the past many races, but victories have eluded him for quite a few months. He has the potential to break the shackles today, but will need a clear run in order to do so.
The rest of the participants will need to do something special in order to challenge the top two favourites. However, there are some chances for Four Fiddlers, Sharney Sike and Malin Bay to shine at Kelso today.
