Rhyne Williams eyes to improve further in the upcoming season – Tennis News
American beaming star, Rhyne Williams, is looking forward to carry his momentum in the upcoming season. He displayed brilliant skills this season as he climbed over 300 places in the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Tour Rankings and made
his debut in a Grand Slam event at Flushing Meadows.
The American youngster improved his fitness level this year which saw him ending the season inside Top 200 and making his maiden Grand Slam main draw appearance at the US Open, a major tennis tournament held on hard courts in New York City. His intense training
and hard worked paid off this circuit as he reached far in several ATP Challenger Tour events. Williams reflected his highlight of the season in an interview to the ATPWorldTour.com, “I think the US Open was definitely the highlight. It was a huge moment for
me, seeing the work was paying off.”
The 21-year-old is bidding to improve further in the upcoming season. He will visit Australia for the first time and is gearing up for the events he participated there. Williams was quoted further in the interview,
“I haven’t sat down with my coach yet to talk about our goals for the upcoming year. Obviously, I still want to keep getting better. I want to improve my game, my backhand and movement around the court. With hard work, I know the results will come.”
The Knoxville native had recently conquered the USTA Australian Open Wild Card Play-offs in Norcross. As a result, he claimed a wild card for the Australian Open main draw. Williams triumphed over his compatriot, Tim Smyczek, for the first time in their
third meeting to win this event.
His coach, Christopher will accompany him in the upcoming tournaments in Australia. Christopher had played tennis and is currently the full-time coach of Williams. He commented, “No one is coming with me, except my cousin Christopher. He also played tennis.
He’s my full-time travelling coach now.”
Ranked 190th in the South African Airways ATP World Tour Rankings, Williams will now skip the qualifying competition at the Australian Open. He is currently in great run of form and is bidding to reach far in the ATP World Tour events as well.
