Rhys Davies will play the ISPS Handa Wales Open
Rhys Davies is padding up for the ISPS Handa Wales Open, planning to handle the pressure at The Celtic Manor Resort, in the City of Newport, Wales.
The 26-year-old Welsh professional golf player is in the field of the European Tour staged event and has high hopes from it.
He has played several events in the current year. He started the season from the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship and finished on the 56th leaderboard position.
He displayed amazing performances at the Avantha Masters, the Maybank Malaysian Open and at the BMW PGA Championship.
Davies finished the Avantha Masters on the 10th position and the Maybank Malaysian Open on the 24th position. However, he did not finish the BMW PGA Championship on the top, but his strokes were amazing and appealing.
Now, he is heading for another sensational event in Wales and is confident to be impressive throughout the four-round tournament.
“If you play professional sport, you're used to dealing with pressures all the time, whether it's simple first-tee anxieties or coming down the stretch of a tournament or whatever,” Davies said.
“It's part of the job in a sense and something that I really enjoy. As for the expectations, I thrive on it. I would much rather play in an environment like this. It's great to have familiar faces watching and some home support, so I really look forward
to it”.
“Whenever you play your national tournament, you definitely have that little extra enthusiasm, a little bit more excitement about the place. You want to win it, and you have to be careful”.
He turned professional in 2007 and won three professional titles in total. Among the three, he recorded one at the European Tour and two are at the Challenge Tour.
Being a Welsh player, he is also excited to chase the title at his homeland. He is happy to face world famous golf players in the four-day event.
On the other hand, he is also padding up to handle pressure at The Celtic Manor Resort. The competition is tough and he has to deliver his top performance so that he can win the second European Tour staged event.
